FAQ's about Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

FAQs for Parents of current TK Students

  1. Do I need to complete the enrollment packet again?  No, currently enrolled TK students are fully enrolled in the district and no other enrollment paperwork is required.

     2. Will my student stay at the school s/he is currently enrolled in?

If your student is currently enrolled in your boundary resident school, s/he will be enrolled in that same school for Kindergarten.

If your student is currently enrolled at a school that is not your boundary resident school, your student will be enrolled into his/her boundary resident school for Kindergarten.  If you wish to request that your child stay in the non-resident school, you will need to participate in Open Enrollment.

     3.  What is the process to request that my student stay at his/her currently enrolled site even if it’s not our boundary resident school?

To request to stay at a school that is not your boundary resident school, you will need to participate in Open Enrollment.

   4. My student is enrolled in our boundary resident site, but I would like to request a different school.

To request enrollment at a school that is not your boundary resident school site, you will need to participate in Open Enrollment.

Open Enrollment Process:

  • The process requires you to fill out a one-page form to request enrollment at a school that is not your boundary resident school site.  This form is available at the District Administration Office or at your current school site.  However, the form MUST be turned into the District Office no sooner than January 17 and no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017.  This form does not guarantee that your child will be able to attend the school site requested, as placement is dependent upon whether there is space available at that school. If you have any questions about the placement of your student or the open enrollment process, please contact the enrollment office at 408-364-4200 ext. 6209
