Check out our 1st graders building number sense with games

You might be wondering, "what is number sense?" It is someone's ability to understand, connect, and relate numbers. Learning experiences that help build number sense set our students up for success as they progress through the grades and see more complex math tasks. At Lynhaven, we begin working on number sense in grade TK and students in all classrooms, including our Special Education classrooms, work on their number sense.

Below are some pictures of 1st graders building math sense through a collaborative game and getting support from our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Charmaine Ramirez. Lynhaven is fortunate to have a Math Specialist, Mrs. Tyler Derler, who also supports all classrooms with strategies for engaging and high quality math instruction.
