Employees and Volunteer of the Year!
Each year we are thrilled to honor a Classified and Certificated employee and a Volunteer of the Year. We are lucky to have such an amazing, dedicated and hard working staff and parent community. This year we are proud to honor:
Certificated employee of the Year - Peggy Gomez-Garcia, 3rd grade teacher
Peggy has taught in CUSD for 17 years and 11 of those have been here at Lynhaven. This year, Peggy has transformed our school with her work on the growth mindset. She has inspired our students to think positively about their abilities most importantly, reminds them that just because they aren’t good at something now, doesn’t mean that they are never going to be good at it. Students have learned a lot about the development of their brains. She has been a demonstration teacher of growth mindset lessons in almost every classroom. Congratulations Mrs. Gomez-Garcia!
Classified Employee of the Year - Pete Williams, food services manager
Pete Williams, or Mr. Pete, has worked at our school since 2015 in our cafeteria. In this time, we have seen him embrace our students like his own children. He is always helping our them with anything that he can. His caring for them goes beyond the kitchen. You'll find students chatting with him at lunch time and at school events he regularly attends. Congratulations Mr. Pete, we love having you at our school!
Volunteer of the Year - Angela Barkes-Draz, mother of 3rd grader Cecilia
Angela has been on our campus for almost 4 years, but it feels like she’s been a member of the Lynhaven family for longer than that! She has been dubbed our STEAM LAB Mom and can be found there two days a week. Angela is happy to help in any classroom. She has been a classroom volunteer the whole time she’s been at Lynhaven and then found her true calling in our STEAM lab when she began creating alongside teachers, lessons around solving every day problems with solutions built using our donations from RAFT and other families. She has helped to get students excited about hands-on learning and they are always excited to see her in the lab. Congratulations Mrs. Draz!
