Handbook Updates

We hope you all have had a wonderful first day back to school! It is really important that you read the Lynhaven Student handbook as there are some changes.

Lunchtime VisitorsComing to school to eat with your child at lunch needs to be reserved for a special occasion. It limits your child's social growth and hinders their independence when it's done too often. They don't get to practice problem solving, and building relationships with peers. We know how special it is to for families to take time out of their day to come and eat with their child but unfortunately not on an every day basis. Please let your child's teacher and Administration know when you'd like to come. As a reminder, non-school aged siblings are not allowed at school at lunch as they pose a safety risk to both themselves and our students. All families are welcome at classroom celebrations, our all school BBQ's, and our PTA events. My main concern is the safety of your student and making their years at Lynhaven the most successful.

Birthday Celebrations

We encourage parents to attend classroom academic celebrations and holiday parties. This builds a sense of community and shows your child that you value their hard work and accomplishments. Birthday celebrations are allowed in class provided that the teacher receives notice within 24 hours to coordinate an appropriate time to cause the least disruption. Birthdays should be celebrated outside of school. Should you choose to bring a treat to share with the class, cupcakes are no longer allowed. Smaller, individual treats like cookies, brownies, yogurt, fruit cups, popsicles, etc are encouraged. As a reminder, balloons brought to school for a child's birthday or other celebrations will remain in the office until dismissal.

We appreciate your support with these changes. Please don't hesitate to stop by the office if you have any questions.
