pinwheels for peace

Dear Lynhaven Families,
Lynhaven students will be “planting” pinwheels this week in honor of International Day of Peace on September 21st.
Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Art teachers, as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives.
In the first year, groups in over 1,325 locations throughout the world were spinning pinwheels on September 21st - there were approximately 500,000 pinwheels spinning throughout the world. At last count, over 4.5 million pinwheels were spinning in over 3,500 locations, including the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
So keep a lookout for the pinwheels – the spinning of the pinwheels in the wind will spread thoughts and feelings about peace throughout the country and the world!

Coffee with the Principal provides a unique opportunity for parents to gain valuable insights into the school’s instructional programs and learn effective strategies to support their children’s education. This event allows parents to ask questions and share concerns directly with the Principal, fostering a collaborative environment that positively impacts students' academic progress. Additionally, it serves as an excellent platform for parents to connect with one another and celebrate the school's achievements. All parents and community members are encouraged to attend.

national custodian day

National Custodian Day
From cleaning the small spills to cleaning up the very unpleasant messes a custodians work is never over, but on October 2nd we can show our utmost gratitude for all the hard work Mrs. Maria, our school day custodian and Mr. Kim, our night custodian do for our school.
You are welcomed to show your appreciation. Each gesture, big or small, can make a significant impact and show custodians how much they are valued!

How to Become A Volunteer
Throughout the school year there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved. Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer. However, safety and security is a top priority.
Please see information and links below on how to become a volunteer!
Option 1 (Recommended)
Volunteer packet with LIVESCAN FORM (fingerprints required) is for volunteers who will be alone with students. (field trips, where they will be alone with children and no staff overseeing them, support with small groups in an area which is not supervised by a staff member, yard duty etc.)
Option 2
Volunteer packet NO LIVESCAN (no fingerprint clearance required) are for all volunteers which will be under supervision by a staff member at all times, for example, small groups within the classroom under teacher supervision, reading in the classroom, any type or volunteering where they will be overseen by staff.

Project Cornerstone

Project Cornerstone Volunteer
Our school has adopted Project Cornerstone's parents engagement program Los Dichos & ABC's, which is part of a country wide effort to build assets in our youth by providing connections with caring adults and lessons that promote a more caring school climate.
The Asset Building Champions (ABC) and Los Dichos are parent engagement programs.
Parents and families can volunteer at Lynhaven by reading specially selected books and leading activities that help teach valuable lessons.
The Spanish-language Los Dichos program opens new doors for parents from diverse cultures to support their children’s school success as well as the healthy development of all young people in their communities.
If you are interested please connect with Community Liaison, Noelia Smith at nsmith [at] campbellusd.org or (408) 556-0368 ext. 4856.
Please note all volunteers must comply with volunteer requirements and processes.
