October is National Book Month
National Book Month is celebrated in October each year to promote the importance of reading.
National Book Month is a month-long celebration that takes place in October to promote the importance of reading, writing, and literature.
Here are some ways to celebrate National Book Month:
- Read: Pick up a new book or make time to read.
- Support our Scholastic Book Fair: see details below.
- Attend Stories Under the Stars: see details below
- Make a character costume: Encourage kids to dress up as their favorite book character, if you dress up for Halloween.

This year's Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for October 14th -18th. As part of our Book Fair week, PTA has organized a Stories Under the Stars Event on October 16th, from 6-7:30 p.m.
During our Stories Under the Stars Event teachers and staff will open their classroom to families to listen to a read aloud. Afterwards, PTA will provide refreshments (milk, cookies, and water) in the MU and Principal Callaway-Wilson and Assistant Principal Ramirez will also read a story.
We will offer evening Book Fair hours on October 16th from 5-5:40 p.m. and 7:30-8:00 p.m.
