One of the District Governing Board’s main functions is setting Board policies (BP) that guide our administrative regulations (AR). The Board reviews policies regularly and updates them as needed. We disseminate the updated information in a variety of ways, including in parent handbooks and in the Policy Highlights bulletin that is being sent home with students. Copies of all policies and regulations are available from the District office or online at campbellusd.org/policy.

We are happy to announce that Lynhaven will be taking part in a program which supports the American Heart Association, called “Jump Rope for Heart.” Our Jump Rope for Heart event will be held on Friday, March 4th. Every student at Lynhaven will participate in jumping, and doing their part to help others with heart disease. Our event will kick off with a school wide assembly on February 11th. Collection envelopes will be sent home beginning February 11th and hopefully students can collect money to support the American Heart Association. Any amount of donation is appreciated and meaningful. Lynhaven has always prided itself on being a kind and caring community. This event gives students the opportunity to deepen their awareness of heart health and to be of service to others, especially those who suffer with heart disease. We appreciate the community supporting the students and look forward to a successful event.
Are you a parent of a 4th or 5th grader at Lynhaven? If so, I'd like to invite you to please join us next Wednesday, January 27th, from 8:15-9:15 for coffee and donuts with Monroe Middle School Principal Dawnel Sontag. She will be here to talk about the transition from elementary to middle school and also all the wonderful things her school has to offer. We will meet in the cafeteria and our community liaison will be here to translate. You're welcome to bring your children with you. Hope to see you there!
As a reminder, Open Enrollment for 4th grade into 5th and 5th grade into 6th grade begins on February 1st and ends on February 12th at 4:00 pm. Forms for either grade will not be accepted until Monday, February 1st. We must follow this protocol so that the process is fair and equitable for all families. Fourth grade families MUST fill out the form. Please turn these forms into the office, not into the teachers by February 12th at 4:00 pm. Thank you!

Mr. Peabody's Apples! This month our ABC readers will be reading this book to classes. It's based on a Ukranian tale about how bad spreading rumors and gossiping can get. The story cautions students to choose their words wisely so as not to cause harm to others. Be sure to ask your child about the book and remind them about ways that they can be good citizens and show respect to others.

Starting February 1st, our school newsletter will begin going to parents/guardians via email. Watch for information about how to make sure you receive important weekly updates about school meetings, homework tips, events, and issues relating to your child’s education.
