How to Prepare for Parent Conferences

Parent Conferences are an important time to discuss your child's strengths and areas of challenge and also make a plan to best support them. Here are some suggestions on how to make the most of your time:

1. Write down quesitons beforehand.

2. Take a notepad and something to write with so you leave with correct information.

3. Use this time to discuss your child and share any important information with your teacher about previous years experiences.

4. Share this information with your child when you get home. Celebrate milestones and discuss challenges.

5. Stay in touch with your teacher through email, phone calls, or schedule a follow-up meeting.

Here are some sample questions to ask in your conference:

*Is my child working up to his/her ability? How are they performing socially with peers?

*Is there anything we can do at home to further support our child?

*What skills will my child be expected to master by the end of the year in Reading, Math, or Writing?

*What can I do to make sure they are ready for the state testing in May?

Don't forget we are a team and want the best for your child! Looking forward to seeing you all for conference week.
