Dear Lynhaven Parents & Guardians,
We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge February as Black History Month! Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

Lynx Learning Is In Session
Beginning next week. An effort to maximize students' instructional time and to lessen classroom interruptions, the office will no longer be calling with messages regarding forgotten items, transportation exchanges, etc.

At Home: Clearly Label your students First and Last Name, Room # or Teacher for any late snacks, lunches, water bottles, backpacks, jackets, homework, etc.

Place items in the designated table inside the office before breaks.

Children should be instructed to check the table if they are missing something from home.

To honor all students learning, we will not make phone calls during instructional time to inform students their lunch is in the front office.
Please make every effort to send your child fully prepared for their day at school.
Should your child forget their lunch, please note that school lunch is free during the 2022-2023 school year.

11:31 am – 12:10pm Grades TK-1 Lunch / Recess
11:56 am – 12:35pm Grade 2-3 Lunch / Recess
12:16 am – 12:50pm Grades 4-5 Lunch / Recess
Lost and Found
Please remember to check the lost and found for jackets, sweaters, water bottles. These items accumulate daily. You are welcomed to search for long lost items before and after school.
Lynhaven Facilities are Used for our Afterschool Programs
In an effort to keep our extended care students safe, we are asking that families not hang out at the playground after school and are leaving campus by 2:25 pm.
Once Campbell Care is closed for the evening at 6pm, our playground is open to the community and can be accessed through the front gate.

Message From PTA
Dear Lynhaven Parents/Guardians,
Thank you so much for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair. We surpassed our goal and pretax sales totalled over $9000! This means 50% of the sales will go right back into providing new books for our classrooms and library.
We are so proud of our students. Last week was filled with eager and joyful kids who were respectful with books as well as being polite and friendly to the parents volunteering. We saw many instances of students being a little short of money and a friend stepping in with change. We loved meeting so many of your children!
If your student is still looking for a specific title or has money leftover in their ewallet, the online Scholastic Book Fair is available through February 5th. Book orders over $25 ship free! Any unspent ewallet will be emailed to you in the form of a gift card after the fair ends.

TK/Kinder Enrollment
Open Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year began at 8 am on January 17, 2023 & ends at 4pm on Friday, February 10, 2023. Submit completed enrollment documents any day during this period in order to complete the Open Enrollment process. Late enrollments are not guaranteed placement in school.
TK/Kinder Tours
If you may have a new TK or Kindergarten student at Lynhaven Elementary in the 2023-2024 school year, we invite you to attend our TK and Kinder Tours on Wednesday, February 8th.
We have two tour hours. Both sessions will share the same information:

Volunteer Packet 2022-2023 - Live Scan Form This will be if you at any point will be with students with NO staff supervision. Ex. field trips, yard duty etc.
Volunteer Packet - No Live Scan Form For any supervised volunteering. Ex. Volunteering in class, book fair, Los Dichos etc.

Attendance & Reported Absences
Reporting your child's attendance is the first step. Please note that attendance is not cleared immediately after notifying. As morning tardies, calls, voicemails and emails are handled in the order received it may take about 24 hours for a reported absence to be cleared, so we gratefully thank you for your patience.
When calling please clearly state your child's full name, date, relationship, reason for absence and symptoms if calling in sick.
For all doctor or dentist appointments a note is required to excuse the absence.
