Celebration of Cultures week is nearly upon us.  We are so thankful for those of you who have signed up! If you are still looking to be a part of the celebration, here are some ways...

  1. We're looking for a few more families to share something from their heritage on Tuesday, Oct 10th during the kids' lunch period.  Don't worry, no special skills needed, we're happy to help you plan this. It's easier than it sounds!

  2. Suggest a song for the Celebration Playlist.

  3. Donate a snack for our International Snack Shack Sale that will be open after school at the blue tables on Thurs, 10/12. Donated snacks can be dropped off in the front office by Tuesday October 10th.

Volunteer Information

Throughout the school year there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved. Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer. However, safety and security is a top priority. Below you will find links to fill out volunteer applications.

Please note TB test dated no more than 4 years is a requirement.

Volunteer packet no livescan form (no fingerprint clearance required) are for all volunteers which will be under supervision by a staff member at all times, for example, small groups within the classroom under teacher supervision, yard duty with other support staff overseeing them (they would not supervise the restrooms), reading in the classroom, any type or volunteering where they will be overseen by staff.

Volunteer packet with Livescan form (fingerprints required) is for volunteers who will be alone with students (overnight field trips, field trips where they will be alone with children and no staff overseeing them, support with small groups in an area which is not supervised by a staff member, etc.)

(For assistance in Spanish please contact Community Liaison; Noelia Smith ext. 4867 for an appointment.)

Traffic Safety Before and After School

While it is easy to be caught up in the rush of morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, we ask that you always prioritize safety. Drivers need to follow all the rules of the road, including the posted School Zone speed limit of 25 mph.

Just as you want drivers to be safe near your homes, our Lynhaven neighbors ask that all of our drivers are safe near their homes.

Every instructional minute does count. No instructional minutes count more than each of us doing our part to keep the community safe.

Want to report unsafe driving or traffic violations on the city streets near school? Please report them to the City of San Jose at (408) 277-8900. Want to request a speed monitor from the City of San Jose? Please contact them at (408) 535-3850.

Attendance

Please see below for FAQ and information.

I dropped off my child at school. Why are they marked absent? Students are expected to be in their classroom seats by 8:05am. If your student arrived after the late bell it is best to send them to the office for a late pass to avoid confusion.

I called to report the absence already, why am I receiving a notification they are absent?Attendance is not cleared immediately after notifying. As morning tardies, calls, voicemails and emails are handled in the order received it may take about 24 hours for a reported absence to be cleared, so we gratefully thank you for your patience.

Excused Absences
Once a student reaches 10 days of excused absences, we require that all subsequent absences be verified by a physician, school nurse, or other school personnel. (California Education Code 46011). Verification of absences must be provided within 20 days of the absence.

Doctors Note
Doctors or dentist notes/letters can be submitted in person to Andrea or via email to lynhaven_attendance [at] campbellusd.org

For all doctor or dentist appointments a note is required to excuse the absence.

**Please note, failure to notify for a reason of absence is automatically counted as unexcused.
