Dear Lynhaven Families,
Earlier this year CUSD began a partnership with Dr. Jo Boaler--the Nomellini-Olivier Professor of Mathematics Education at the Stanford Graduate School of Education.Dr. Boaler is involved in promoting reform mathematics and equitable mathematics classrooms.
At our March 10th Professional Development, all teachers and site leaders in the district had the opportunity to hear Dr. Boaler speak. She shared how we can better support our students with math learning that builds excitement, confidence and math skills that will help our students find success now and in the future.
Staff provided very positive feedback about the professional development session:
You, too, can support this journey at home! Visit YouCubed.org and find the Parent Resources. Attached is Dr. Boaler's parent/guardian resource guide in English and Spanish. And there's much much more to explore! Happy Learning!

Dear Lynhaven Families,
Last Thursday all of our students were able to attend the Our Native Wildlife experience with Wild Mind Science Learning. Wild Mind brought some very special visitors to meet our students: a turkey vulture, a red tail hawk, an opposum, a gray fox, and a California Desert Tortoise.
Our students really enjoyed learning about wildlife native to California. Our students were very respectful, responsible, and caring, so that the animals had a successful visit with us. We appreciate the financial support from our PTA for this school-wide experience!

Reading with or to your child has so many benefits. Did you know that 20 minutes of reading each day means that your child will be exposed to an additional 1,800,000 words per year and will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade?
Reading with or to your child also helps to
-
Develop a strong bond between parent and child.
-
Cultivate active listening skills.
-
Develop strong literacy skills.
-
Set our children up for future academic success.
-
Increase the chances that children will become avid readers.
