Pitfalls for Parents

English Registration Link

Thursday, December 15 at 4:00

Parents, join Distinguished Visiting Professor Tim Chartier and Jo Boaler for an hour of math learning, designed with you in mind.  Starting with the basics, we'll explore — and learn to leap right over — some of the most common stumbling blocks in K–12 math.  Anything that you or your child ever found confusing is fair game!

Jo Boaler is a professor in Stanford University's Graduate School of Education.  She specializes in studying which methods of mathematical teaching correlate with students developing a "growth mindset" and with upholding equity in the classroom.

This is an online-only event.  Occasional video recordings are made available for a fee here (English).

Cost Options:

Event Fee — $15

Event fee plus $15 donation to support families in need — 30$

Fee waived (for families with financial need) — $0

Hello Lynhaven Community! My name is Sophia Lonac and I am from Campbell and grew up in the Campbell Union School district myself! I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I was in elementary school. I attended Azusa Pacific University for my undergrad degree and continued on to get my masters and teaching credential at California Baptist University. I got to spend a lot of time in the classroom student teaching and subbing, and it confirmed to me that teaching is what I love to do. My favorite part of teaching is the relationships I get to build with my students. I look forward to seeing them everyday! I love to cook in my free time. I enjoy trying new recipes and making them for my family. A fun fact about me is that I can sing and play guitar! I used to write my own music.
