Hello Lynhaven Community! My name is Judit Van Caenegem and I am a Kindergarten Teacher at Lynhaven. This is my first year at Lynhaven. I am originally from Switzerland, but have lived in San Jose for 20 years. I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a translator. After receiving my credential, I worked in Kindergarten and 3rd/4th/5th grade. My favorite part of my position at Lynhaven is the community and the whole team. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, swimming, jogging, hiking, reading, and baking. A fun fact about me is that I was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Africa) and lived in Belgium, Switzerland, and the Caribbean (Dominica) before moving to California.

Hello Lynhaven Families!

I was born in Anaheim, across the street from Disneyland in a small hospital that is no longer there. I lived in Southern California as a child and moved to the Bay area in 1989, just in time for the big earthquake. I have been working with children in one way or another since I was 16. I taught competitive gymnastics and dance for many years and when I felt like I needed a change, I got my Associates in Early Childhood Education and taught PreK and TK at private schools for 11 years. In early 2021, I decided I was ready to move forward again and get my teaching credentials. I should be finished with my credential program by April of 2023. My favorite part of teaching at Lynhaven is working with many different teachers and watching their different teaching styles. In my free time I like to dance, do yoga, listen to all kinds of music, and cuddle my Husky/Whippet mix fur baby. A fun fact about me is that my mom was British and I was able to spend every summer in England as a child with my many, many, many cousins. (My mom was one of 20 children.)

Hello Lynhaven Families!

I'm from the Bay Area born and raised. I've spent most of my life here with the exception of living in Oregon and Nevada for a short time. I really missed living in San Jose so I moved back home and I have been here ever since. I've always had an interest in teaching, but my path always seemed to take me in another direction. Eventually I met my fiance and she has always been in education. Her and a bunch of friends helped me find the left turn I needed to get me here. My favorite part of my work at Lynhave is bringing such joy to the students! It's an incredibly fulfilling position and great to see how happy the kids are to have access to the books and the library. In my free time I enjoy taking photos and drawing them in pencil. I also really enjoy reading a good mystery book. A fun fact about me is that when I find myself with a lot of extra time, I love to go camping or travel to new places. I actually just got back from Disneyland!

Hello Lynhaven Families!

I was born and raised in Hollister, CA. I started my career in education volunteering for a local theater summer camp at the age of 14. As I grew older I found myself myself wanting to get involved in education year round! My favorite part of my position at Lynhaven is that I get to play all day! In my free time I love to cook (especially BBQ!). A fun fact about me is that I can juggle.

Hello Lynhaven Families!

I was born and raised in Stockton, CA. After high school I moved to San Luis Obispo to attend college and play softball. I then moved to San Jose where I finished my college education at San Jose State. I have been currently living in San Jose for 7 years.

During my undergrad, I was studying to be an Athletic Trainer and had no intention of teaching. I realized that Athletic training wasn't my passion and needed to find something that I enjoyed. I decided to try teaching because I would be able to work with children and teach them skills through sports. That decision changed my career path and have LOVED teaching.

My favorite part of my position at Lynhaven is being able to teach my students different ways to be physically active and how to have a health mind and body. Plus I get to be outside and play with my students :)

In my free time I like to spend time with my family and friends either through FaceTime or meeting up somewhere. When I am not teaching I like to clean and cook in my home and be lazy with my fiancé and our dog, Bulleit.

A fun fact about me is that I am the oldest of five girls!

Hello Lynhaven Families!

I was born and raised in San Jose, California. After finishing two years at DeAnza Community College, I moved to Sacramento, California to attend CSU Sacramento and I have been living there until four years ago.

One of my favorite jobs I had through college was working for an after school program. I enjoyed the freedom but I knew I never wanted to be a real teacher. I eventually took some time away from college and focused on surviving life. I was able to explore other ways to work and empower the youth. When I returned to college, I made sure I had a back up plan incase my career as a Physical Therapist did not work out; the back up plan was a Physical Education Teacher. After one class of PE, I turned my backup plan into my career goal and never looked back.

My favorite part about my position is being able to connect with the students in a different environment that they are use to being in. The best part is seeing their perspective changes for the better overtime about being active.

In my free time, I like to binge watch shows on Netflix, reading a good book, exploring new places and enjoying the great outdoors.

Fun fact about me, I will eat ice cream when it is pouring rain outside.
