Please see the flyer below for information on how to access free resources from the San Jose Public Library. These programs are free to any CUSD student and you will need your child's student ID (on and district information and report cards) and their birthdate. We're excited to offer this and hope to see families taking advantage of this opportunity.

I am so happy to share with you all that our district has found our new Principal, Mrs. Alanna Callaway-Wilson. She will begin as our Principal on Monday, November 15th. My last day at Lynhaven will be Tuesday, November 16th. Mrs. Callaway-Wilson and I will use that time for transiton.

As the letter below states, I am confident that Mrs. Callaway-Wilson and Mrs. Ramirez will continue to support our site's mission and vision for success for all students, and most importantly, they will welcome all students and their families onto our campus with compassion.

I am leaving a big part of my heart here at Lynhaven with this dedicated staff, our wonderful commuity, and especially your precious children. Thank you for the hugs, laughs, and tears we've shared over these years. AND we all survived a year and a half of distance learning together! This staff is top notch and I'm so proud to have been the leader at this school. I'll be expecting many invitations to high school graduations in my future! Much love to you all.

REMINDER: to our families with students in grades 3-5, they can sign up for FREE online tutoring or drop-in homework help! If tutoring is not something you need, your child can take advantage of the drop-in homework help. This is a program that is paid for through our school site. Because it is virtual, you must have a device at home (iPad, tablet, laptop, phone) that can access the internet.

If your child attends our after school Campbell Care program, they can access the homework help or tutoring through the use of the chromebooks that we have there. Please see below for more information!

click HERE for a quick video tutorial. The students can access this through the CLEVER portal that they are very familiar with.

Next Friday, 10/29, we will have a Halloween Parade from 8:30-9:00am on the big playground. Students will walk with their classes around the playground as other classes cheer them on. They can wear their costumes to school, BUT they need to bring clothes to change into when the parade is over. This year, the parade is for Lynhaven students only.  After the parade, the teachers will take pictures with the whole class and upload them onto Seesaw and onto our school website. Please make sure to send a change of clothes with your child.

Costumes that are not school appropriate or do not follow the expectations will not be allowed at school:

-no weapons of any kind are allowed or costumes/masks that depict violence or blood.

-scary clown costumes/horror film characters are not allowed.

Thank you for helping us make this a fun day for the students.

Our goal is to create a college-going/future ready culture among our students at Lynhaven, and to inspire and support students in their pursuit of a college education or a career of their choice. Next week, we will be having discussions about college/career ready plans. We are encouraging staff to wear their college memorabilia and if you have items your children can wear to school to support yours or a family members college choice, please do!  We would love to see you showing your college spirit as well!

Dear Resident,
The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) needs your help naming a future park site located at 3257 Payne Avenue (between Eden Avenue and Phelps Avenue).

The Name Suggestion Survey for Payne Avenue Park Site will open at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 13th and will close on Friday, October 22nd.

Please be on the lookout for the survey link. It will be posted on the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services "In The Works" webpage on the morning of October 13th.

For more details about the park naming survey, click here. Scroll down to the "Survey - Payne Avenue Park" section.

Background

Between May 28th, 2021 and June 10th, 2021, the City released a survey which allowed members of the public to vote on potential park names for a future park located at 3257 Payne Avenue. We had limited response to the survey and only one name, “Payne Avenue Park” meets City requirements.  Another name, “Esperanza Park,” received the 11 votes, but it unfortunately does not meet City naming policy requirements. As a result, we’re re-inviting people to suggest names for the park to ensure the community has the full opportunity to participate and to ensure all potential names that comply with City policy can be considered by the City Council.
