At our Back To School Night event, your teachers went over the importance of being at school everyday, on time. Starting as early as TK, poor attendance can affect academics. When students are at school on time, not only are they building good habits for their future, but it also allows for socialization with friends and in some cases, a chance to eat breakfast. I've attached an article below, in English and in Spanish, about ways to support good attendance habits. Thank you for working to help all students succeed.

Please stop by and join us for a cup of coffee after you drop off your students next Wednesday, September 12th from 8:15-9:15 am in the cafeteria. We’ll be discussing the SeeSaw parent app, the Five Competencies of a CUSD graduate, and our AVID path to success! We hope to see you there!
Living Classroom is taking root at Lynhaven School, providing 7 lessons to TK-3 students in September and October, with many more to come! The hands-on, inquiry based science, math, nutrition and social studies lessons take place in school gardens which provide a living laboratory where lessons are drawn from real-life experiences. All TK-3 teachers are participating. Lesson topics this fall include:

We look forward to having you attend our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 6, 2018. This year we are making a change in the scheduling of the night. Previously, families could choose which 30-minute session to attend and the teacher's provided the same information twice. We began the evening in the Cafeteria with a welcome from the admistrators, Community Liaison, and our PTA board members.
This year, you will go directly to your child's classroom for the presentation. You will watch a quick video introduction from those same groups. We will not meet in the cafeteria at all.
The schedule will go as follows:
If you are a parent/guardian of a student in TK-2nd grade, your time is 6:00-6:40.
If you are a parent/guardian of a student in 3rd-5th grades, your time is 6:45-7:30.
The teachers will only do one session so you will have to attend the session of preference.
This change will allow more time in the classroom to hear the important information from the teachers.
PlayWorks is our recess program that helps to build leadership skills, sportsmanship, and responsibility all while having fun with friends at recess. Click on the link below to read the newsletter from our new coach, Coach EJ!
How do you celebrate the end of the first full week of school? With Kona Ice! They will be here after school this Friday, 8/31, selling a cool treat of shaved ice. We expect long lines, so come out early!

Today, Thursday, August 23rd, our white communciation folders will be coming home. This is a folder that we ask parents/guardians to check weekly, empty out, and return to school the next day. This is how information gets home in a hard copy. These envelopes will include classroom specific information, work samples, field trip and celebratory information as well as classroom newsletters too. The cost to replace them is $.50 as they are extremely helpful in getting information home.
