School News

Updated Wed, Jan 24th

Ms. Ajlouni and I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. We're so excited to see our students and families and hope you're ready to get back in the swing of things. We just want to remind you all about a few things:

*DROP OFF/PICK UP- Dropping off and picking up of students in the front of the school in the red zone is NOT allowed. This causes unnecessary back up on Cypress and with people making  u-turns in the middle of the street, that causes a dangerous and illegal situation as well. Many parents have asked if they can help report cars to the SJPD traffic enforcement department to help with the safety of everyone.

*ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL TIMES-Students may not be dropped off before 7:45 if they are having breakfast or 7:55 if they are not. This poses a supervision issue as supervision does not begin before 7:45. Dismissal is at 2:10/2:15 and 1:10/1:15 on Wednesdays and students need to be picked up promptly.

*FLU SAFETY-This year the flu strain is even worse than in the past. Please help us keep your children and everyone on campus as healthy as possible by making sure they are encouraged to wash their hands frequently with soap, not just with hand sanitizers, get plenty of sleep, and drink lots of fluids.

We appreciate your help in keeping our school a safe, productive place for learning.

Just a reminder that our Holiday Break begins next Friday, December 22nd through Friday, January 5th, 2018. We wish all of our families a beautiful holiday season and a very Happy New Year! Be safe and have fun!

With the holidays approaching, students are getting more excited about vacations, traveling, and the fun celebrations that are taking place at school. In this time, it's still important to follow our school ABCs of Acting Responsibly, Behaving Respectufully and Caring for all. We appreciate you reminding your child (children) that this behavior is expected at all times at school and at home.

We'd like to send out a HUGE thank you for all of those who came out to the book fair and the Family Fun Night last Friday. We made almost $5,000 from the book fair which means many students went home with some fabulous books and our library is getting a lot of new books to read! Thank you to our PTA and especially our Book Fair Chairperson, Mary Deutscher and all of the volunteers who helped at the book fair all week, especially on Friday night. A big shout out to over 20 Book Fair/Family Night volunteers who managed gift wrapping, cookie decorating station, craft areas and food because we could not have done it without you!

Looking forward to our Spring Book Fair in May 2018!

On Friday, January 19th, licensed dentists will be at Lynhaven School to provide dental screenings and apply protective fluoride varnish to children ’s teeth.  Fluoride varnish helps to protect children’s teeth from cavities and can make teeth stronger.  If you would like your child to participate in this FREE dental program, sign and return the “Dental Screening and Fluoride Consent Form” that your child brought home before the break.  This form was due to your child’s teacher by Thursday, December 21st.   Feel free to contact the school office if you have any questions about this important program.

Just a reminder that while we love dogs, they are not allowed on campus at drop-off or pick-up. This is a Campbell Union School District policy and it's posted on the cafeteria wall in the front of the school. In additon to that, we have many children and adults who are afraid of dogs or have allergies and it can also be overwhelming for dogs to be on a campus where several children are running up to them at the same time. We appreciate you leaving your four-legged family members at home when you are coming to school.
