We appreciate you scheduling appointments around instructional time and not during it, however if you are planning on checking your child out of school at lunchtime for appointments or the rest of the day, we need your help in planning ahead. Please call the office before your lunch begins so that your child will be waiting for you in the office with their backpack/lunchbox when you get here. It's incredibly difficult to locate your child during recess and then go to the classroom to retrieve their items then come to the office. We will be sure to get them lunch before you arrive if time allows. Thank you very much for your support with this.

One of the most important decision-making groups at Lynhaven is our elected School Site Council (SSC).  The SSC is composed of parents, community members, and representatives from the school’s staff.  They meet 4 times a year, from 3:00-4:00 in the staff room at school to review the school plan, school budget, and make suggestions and/or modifications as necessary, and also assist in the evaluation of the school’s programs.  Members are elected by the groups that they represent (parents by parents, classroom teachers by classroom teachers, etc.).  Parent/community representatives and alternates are elected for a two-year term.  We are in need of at least 4 members for the SSC. If you're interested in being on this team, please write a short description about yourself (kids, grades they're in, your profession, etc.) along with your reasons for wanting to be on the team and submit it to our secretary, Maggie in the office. I will comprise the information and send home a ballot in the school Thursday envelopes on  September 22nd to be returned by the 30th. Our first meeting will be scheduled in October. Please consider being a part of this important team.

Next week, Lynhaven will be participating in Pinwheels for Peace on Wednesday, Sept. 21st.  Each student will be making a pinwheel and will “plant” it in the front of our school by the marquee. This is a school wide community event which gives our students the opportunity to be creative and artistic.  It also encourages students to reflect on what peace means to them personally and also their wishes for world peace.  On Sept. 21st our pinwheels will spin in the wind sending our wishes for peace and harmony out into the world. Please stop by to see them if you can!
