School News

Updated Wed, Oct 9th

This year, as part of our Continous Improvement efforts at the school level, teachers are asking students what is important to them in their classroom community. Students' voices are then captured as a classroom mission statement. Each mission statement is different because it reflects the classroom community that created it.

Classroom Mission Statements support Continous improvement by reminding us

Who are we? What do we value?

 and by defining

How will we work together?

What do we want to accomplish? What are our goals?

We will feature different mission statements throughout this school year.

This Classroom Mission Statement is from one of our 5th grade classes.

pinwheels for peace

Dear Lynhaven Families,

Lynhaven students will be “planting” pinwheels this week in honor of International Day of Peace on September 21st.
Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Art teachers, as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives.
In the first year, groups in over 1,325 locations throughout the world were spinning pinwheels on September 21st - there were approximately 500,000 pinwheels spinning throughout the world. At last count, over 4.5 million pinwheels were spinning in over 3,500 locations, including the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
So keep a lookout for the pinwheels – the spinning of the pinwheels in the wind will spread thoughts and feelings about peace throughout the country and the world!

Coffee with the Principal provides a unique opportunity for parents to gain valuable insights into the school’s instructional programs and learn effective strategies to support their children’s education. This event allows parents to ask questions and share concerns directly with the Principal, fostering a collaborative environment that positively impacts students' academic progress. Additionally, it serves as an excellent platform for parents to connect with one another and celebrate the school's achievements. All parents and community members are encouraged to attend.

From cleaning the small spills to cleaning up the very unpleasant messes a custodians work is never over, but on October 2nd we can show our utmost gratitude for all the hard work Mrs. Maria, our school day custodian and Mr. Kim, our night custodian do for our school.

Dear Lynhaven Families,

At Lynhaven we are so fortunate to have a diverse group of families.
Our Mission is to foster a community of critical thinkers who practice collaboration, innovation and empathy throughout their lives.
Principal Mrs. Callaway-Wilson and Assistant Principal Mrs. Ramirez along side teachers have worked endlessly on cultivating an environment where all students feel welcomed!
Students and their grade levels have worked on Classroom Mission Statements, which in doing so brings an inclusive approach as students create their expectations.
We hope its a conversation start to have with your student this weekend!

Regular, on-time attendance is essential for building good habits and academic success. As the school year begins, it's important for us to share that being in school every day helps your child stay on track with lessons, engage in activities, and strengthen their learning foundation. This leads to more academic growth, a deeper understanding of the curriculum and concepts, and more positive feelings about school.

Attendance also instills key life skills like responsibility, punctuality, and perseverance. It fosters strong relationships with peers and teachers, which supports social and emotional growth. Missing even a day or two can set your child back, so prioritizing attendance is crucial.

We look forward to greeting every Lynhaven Lynx on time, every day!
