Lynhaven Elementary School

School News

Updated Tue, Jun 23rd

Thank you all for coming out this afternoon to celebrate this milestone for our students. One of my favorite authors is Theodore Giesel otherwise known as Dr. Seuss, and he’s quoted as saying,

Don’t cry because it’s over, SMILE because it happened”

That sums up this day. As you transition from elementary school to middle school, you do so as readers, mathematicians, budding scientists,  writers, beginning poets, athletes, artists, engineers, and most of all role models of what hard work looks like. Today is the first of many steps you’ll be taking in your educational career. We've watched you all grow into leaders and role models on this campus. This has never been more apparent than it was these last 60 days when you had only a few days to transition to Distance Learning. You had to say goodbye to your teachers, your friends, and become online learners in only a matter of days! To say we're proud of you is an understatement.

To the families , THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting your child through not only past years of homework, scary first days of school, fun school parties, chaperoning field trips, science projects, class presentations, good report cards and not so good report cards. We will not forget how you all became teachers for the last 60 days either, and this was no easy feat! You deserve a big round of applause for all of your hard work!

To our fifth graders, YOU DID IT! You’re just a few hours away from being middle school students. I know it’s bittersweet because you’re leaving people you care about and people who care about you. But know that we’ll always be here. Whether you’ve been here for 6 years or 1 month, Lynhaven is your home!

I’d like to remind you of a quote from our former First Lady, Michelle Obama, and I hope you don’t ever forget this:

“With an education, you have everything you need to rise above all the noise and fulfill every last one of your dreams!”

Thank you to Ms. Calicchio, Mrs. Schonig, Mr. Cronin, Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Bies, Mrs. Day, Ms. Patenaude, Mrs. Gupta, and Mr. Shandonay for working together to support these students and to prepare them for middle school.

Good luck to our Lynhaven Elementary School promoting class of 2020, and the high school graduating class of 2027! Have a wonderful summer, stay healthy, and keep in touch!

With love,

Ms. Rowan and Ms. Ajlouni

Please enjoy a few pictures from our drive through promotion today!

Hello 5th grade families!
We are so excited that we will be able to celebrate our fabulous 5th graders promoting to Middle School! This has been a trying time for them (and you!) but you've made it and deserve some fun! We'd like to invite you to a:

Drive By Promotion Ceremony-Wednesday, June 10th, 3:00-5:00.
Ms. Calicchio and Mrs. Johnson will be in the parking lot in the front of the school. Mrs. Schonig and Mr. Cronin will be in the front bus loop. Follow the signs and look for balloons by your teacher.
As you drive by, remember these rules:
1. Everyone must stay in your car at all times.
2. If you can, please have your student sit in the front passenger seat to make it easier for your teacher to give you your certificate and other surprises!
3. Please pull up as far as you can so that we are not blocking the streets from regular traffic.
4. Your teacher will approach your car and you can take a quick picture with them after you receive your materials.
5. Traditionally, our theme for the Promotion ceremony and party afterwards is a Hawaiian Luau, so feel free to dress in Hawaiian/Tropical clothes or you can also dress up if you'd like to!
We look forward to seeing you all on the 10th!
Ms. Rowan, Ms. Ajlouni, and our 5th Grade Teachers

Hello Lynhaven Families!

In order to properly plan for the next school year, each year we send out a form to inquire if your child(ren) will be returning to Lynhaven in the fall. With our Shelter-In-Place, this form must be completed online. This is very important information and we appreciate you taking a minute or two to fill it out for all of your children. You will see there are multiple lines for you to list all children returning. The form below is in Spanish and English.  We appreciate your time! Thank you in advance.

Even though this year we weren't able to  have some of our favorite school events, particularly the end of the year events, we know that you'll want to commemorate this school year! Our PTA would like you to know that our school yearbooks can be ordered, online only due to the shelter in place, through our PTA STORE!  Please click on the link below and Log in (or create a Log in.).  We hope that yearbooks will be picked up at Lynhaven after the shelter in place order has been lifted, otherwise it will be in the fall when we return. We will keep you updated with the details!
If you are not able to pre-pay and order online, please let your teacher know you would like one so they can get an accurate order count and you can purchase one when they arrive.  Any questions, feel free to email our PTA at lynhavenpta [at] gmail.com.

Beginning Monday, 4/20, the Lynhaven office will be open and staffed for phone calls only. The office hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00-2:00 and closed on Friday. If you need to reach our Community Liaison, Noelia Smith, you can call her directly at (408) 556-0368 ext. 4839.

You will be receiving an important message from your teacher regarding picking up more materials to facilitate our Distance Learning through the rest of the school year. While our school buildings are closed, school is not over. Our teachers will be distributing the materials on certian days and at certain times to allow for social distancing guidelines to be followed. Please make every effort to get the materials your child will need to continue the flow of teaching and learning. We ask that only one family member get out of the car to get materials and that children stay in the car. Thank you for understanding.
